YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR IAS OR NOT

If your Distance course is approved by UGC then you are eligible for IAS exam otherwise not.The details of IAS exam is given below.

This exam is conducted by UPSC in once time in year.

Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.

But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be in citizen in India.

Optional subjects for IAS main exam:

Economics , Electrical Engineering,Geography, Geology ,History, Law,Management,Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology,Statistics, Zoology, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology,Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy.

You can choose the subject in sense of your strength .

The IAS selection process is consist in three way

1)Preliminary exam
2)Main exam
3)Inter View.

Date of notification: 04-02-2012

Last Date for Receipt of Applications: 05-03-2012

Date of Exam: 20-05-2012

Civil Services Main Exam, 2012

Date of Commencement of Exam: 05-10-2012

Hi friend

Don't worry your degree is valid to apply for Civil service exam to become IAS officer.

The requirements by UPSC,The constitutional body which will conduct this Civil service exam is the candidate who will want to appear in civil service exam has to complete his degree from a recognized University.

->Either that university should be recognized and approved by AICTE
->it should be a UGC approved university
->or any other recognized university students are eligible to appear for this exam.

as you are the student of a recognized University there is no need to worry about your eligibility you are perfectly eligible for the examination.

One more doubt you may get is about age criteria .
if you now have at least 21 years of age then you are eligible for the examination.

So with you are Sikkim Manipal University distance degree you are now eligible for the civil service exam.
There is any such limitation like distance degree or Regular degree.
you should just have a degree that is enough.

Dear friend yes Sikkim Manipal University distance education Graduation degree is valid for IAS exam.

The degrees awarded by the University are approved and recognized by the following regulatory bodies:-

- University Grant Commission

- Distance Education Council

- Ministry of Human Resource Development

For apply IAS exam the minimum education qualification is Graduation degree from a recognized University.

Age limit:-

Age should be between 21 years to 30 years for General category candidates.

Age relaxation for OBC category candidates 3 years

And SC/ST category candidates 5 years.
