I`m a student of electrical and electronics engineering . Am I eligble to apply for the course of sound recording and sound designat FTII ? Whàt`s the pattern of the entrance exam at FTII ? Pls help .

The eligibility criteria for admission in sound recording and sound designat FTII is
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Physics as a subject at Senior secondary (10+2) level.
According to you qualification you are eligible to apply

The Entrance Examination for the courses will be held on 01/08/2010.

How to Apply :

The prospectus containing the application form and other details may be obtained on request along with a demand draft of Rs.2000/- for General Category and Rs.1650/- for SC/ST drawn on any of the Nationalised Banks in favour of "Accounts Officer, Film and Television Institute of India," payable at Pune. Requests for prospectus will be entertained only after 1st May, 2010. Prospectus can also be obtained personally from the information and facilitation counter, Film and Television Institute of India.

The career in the field of sound engg is not less than any other field.
People often underestimate the importance of sound and how it enhances every entertainment experience that exists today. Without sound engineering, movies would be less dramatic, video games would be less realistic and live events wouldn't be heard at all. Sound engineers create, record and manipulate all types of sounds to give audiences the most complete experience possible.

The course is so specific that one doesn't need to find a job. Think what can be the best. All you need is a combination of dedication and skills for long and successful career.

There are as many types of careers in sound engineering as there are industries that hire sound engineers. Sound engineers in the radio industry monitor audio levels and sound quality during the broadcast of a program and make necessary repairs to the technical equipment. A sound technician for a live concert adjusts and mixes audio levels during the event, ensuring the best quality of sound at all times. The film and television industry hires a wide variety of sound engineers: recording engineers capture voiceovers, dialogue and music; Foley artists create sound effects; and sound mixers combine all those recordings and adjust audio levels to complement the visuals. .

I personally like the process of Recording an album or songs and stuff in a studio . The recording studio and the consoles fascinate me . But I hear the course is too difficult and yet more difficult for a girl to settle . Many suggest me to get done with a PG and then follow my passion. What do you suggest ? Also , What colleges are good at providing this course ?

As you have done B.Tech in ECE, you can get admission in the FTII through the entrance test conducted by the institute itself.

The minimum eligibility for getting into the course of sound recording in FTII is to have a graduation degree in any stream.
So you are definitely eligible for the exam .
