National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted by the University Grant Commission(UGC).

NET you can apply for Lectureship in Central Government Colleges which after clearing SET,You can apply for job in the very state where you appeared for exam.

Eligibility Criteria:

**Any citizen of India can apply for these exams.

**You must be post graduation degree holder.

**Need to secure 55 percent marks in master's degree.

**Relaxation of 5 percent marks for SC/ST.

**You are free to apply even during final year of post graduation.

**Final year candidates will have to submit degree in 2 years.

**Subject will depend on your master's degree.

**Age limit for JRF is 28 years (General).

**31 year is the limit for OBC.

**The age limit for SC/ST interested in appearing for JRF is 33 years.

**There is lower age limit of 19 years for lectureship.

**There is no upper age limit.

NET Schedule:

UGC conducts NET exam twice in a year. i.e. In the month of June and December.The notifications announcing the June and December examinations are published in the months of March and September respectively in the weekly journal of nation-wide circulation.

NET Results Declaration Schedule:

The resulf of June,UGC-NET is declared generally in the month of October. Similarly December,UGC-NET result is usually declared in the Month of Aprial.

Maharashtra State Eligibility Test for Lectureship
SET exam conducted by the University Grants Commission, it is a qualifying examination for those aspiring to join the teaching field.

Usally SET exam will be conducted in the month of Novermber. UGC had announced the dates for the national eligibility test to be held in the month of December.

Both National Eligibility Test and the State Eligibility Test are conducted with the same purpose. Both are conducted for the JRF and college lectureship.

While the responsibility of conducting National Eligibility Test lies with University Grants Commission, SET is purely the responsibility of each state to conduct. Both the exams have same criteria to apply.

National Eligibility Test is conducted in June and December every year. The exact dates are only released around a month in advance. Therefore if you are planning to appear for the National Eligibility Test in December then wait till November to get details about the dates.

On the other hand, State Eligibility Test may or may not follow any pattern. Each state conduct its exam on different dates. Therefore unless you become specific about the state, it is quite difficult to provide dates for the State Eligibility Test.


Eligibility Criteria for Both Exams

1. You must be Indian citizen.

2. Post graduation degree holder.

3. 55 percent marks in post graduation.

4. 50 percent for SC/ST.

5. Final year students too can apply.

6. Final year students are required to submit degree in 2 years.

7. NET subject will purely depend on post graduation degree.

8. There is age limit of 28 years for JRF.

9. Relaxation of 3 years for OBC.

10. While for SC/ST the relaxation is 5 years.

11. There is no upper age limit for lectureship.

From where we have 2 appear d exam

I have done MBA in Finance (Degree - Masters in Financial Management). Do I still have to do M.COM to apply for NET/SET Exam or I am eligible to apply for NET/SET Exam after pursuing Masters in Financial Management Degree?. Kindly advice.
