TET stands for Teachers Eligibility Test. This test is conducted to recruit teachers in the government schools that are funded by both state governments as well central government.

The TET exam was introduced to improve the quality of education in government schools. This decision was taken by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development. The ministry felt that lack of education quality was directly due to teachers.

Therefore the Teachers Eligibility Test was introduced to ensure highly skilled teachers manages to get the job in government schools. The ministry also made it compulsary for all state governments to either conduct their own TET exam or recruit teachers based in their performance in Central Teachers Eligibility Test.

It is important to know that if you have cleared TET exam of Gujarat, then you are only eligible for job in govt schools of Gujarat. Similarly if you have cleared CTET Exam then you can only apply for job in central government schools such as Kendriya Vidhalaya, Tibetan Schools etc.

The criteria to appear for the exam is almost same for CTET and TET. Although some states have made minor changes in the criteria. It should also be noted that generally CTET is considered to be more difficult test to clear in comparison to TET entrance exam.

Eligibility

1. Only Indian nationals can apply.

2. A bachelor degree in any stream.

3. At least 50 percent marks in graduation.

4. A Bachelor of Education degree from a recognized university.

5. There is no age limit to apply for TET.
