TET stands for the Teachers Eligibility Test. This exam is conducted in order to recruit teachers for government schools. The central government conducts its own test called CTET to recruit teachers for its schools, while each state conducts a separate test to do the same.
Alike several other states, Punjab also conducts Teachers Eligibility Test to recruit teachers. It has been made mandatory by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development to recruit teachers by conducting TET entrance exam. The decision came after govt faced huge criticism over the quality of education in the government schools. Now it is mandatory for the states to conduct TET exam. Those who fail to do so have to recruit teachers on the basis of their performance in Central Teachers Eligibility Test. Eligibility 1. You should be of Indian origin. 2. A graduation degree in any stream. 3. Minimum of 50 percent marks. 4. A B.Ed degree is also required. 5. There is no age limit for TET Exam. Although the criteria could change from state to state. Please remember that TET is one of the most difficult exams in the country. As low as 10 percent of total candidates appearing manages to clear this exam. CTET is considered to be even tougher than the Teachers Eligibility Test. You need to score 60 percent marks in TET to clear it. SC/ST candidates need 55 percent marks. |

TET is Teachers eligibility test conducted to recruit teachers in government schools.
For TET you should be having a B.Ed. qualification from a recognised university. B.Ed. is done after Graduation and this course is a basic requirement to become a teacher . So if you have done B.Ed. then you can apply for TET . If you qualify this test with good marks then you have very good chance of getting a government teacher’s post. Every state conducts their own TET exam and there is a national level TET known as CTET which is conducted by CBSE for recruitment of teachers in central government CBSE affiliated schools. Central government CBSE affiliated schools are Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya schools, Army schools . If you join central government school you will be transferred to any part of India. If you don’t want to travel whole India then you should try to clear state level TET . |
