Foreign shipping companies also offer good job prospects.The salary structure is lucrative. The salary depend upon the type of ship, experience and competency of an individual and the company. On an average a starter might get around Rs. 30,000 to 40,000. On an average one can become a captain by the age of 30 years and after a couple of years of service, contemplate an early retirement. The money is good in this field. You could start off with as much as Rs 27,000 per month and work up to Rs.1.5 to 2 lakh a month.

Tanker salary:
Lets start form a cadet-it can be from 5000 - 30000 rps.
Third officer from 1.5 - 2.0 lkhs
Second officer from 2.0-2.65 lkhs
Chief officer from 3.5 -5.5 lkhs
Master 6- and goes on
