A commerce stream student can not apply for the merchant navy. I am sorry for breaking this news to you. Only candidates who have completed 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Maths are eligible for Merchant Navy.

The courses that lead to job in merchant navy can only be taken by the candidates who have completed 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Since you are doing B.Com that makes you ineligible for job in the merchant navy.


Eligibility

1. Must have completed 12th with PCM.

2. The age limit is 20 years.

3. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST.

4. Only unmarried candidates can apply.

5. After 12th you should be Marine Engineering or B.Sc in Nautical Science.

After completing any of these courses, you will be eligible for officer level job in the Merchant Navy.


Direct Entry

1. You can apply for the "Deck Cadet" job after completing 12th with PCM. You will have to go through 3 months long pre sea course which is generally arranged by the company itself.

2. Candidates with B.Tech degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Technology can also apply for jobs in merchant navy. They will have to undergo 9 months long pre sea course in marine engineering from the MERI.

I am extremely sorry to say that you cannot join merchant navy because of your B.Com degree. A commerce degree holder is not eligible to join merchant navy.

Eligibility for Merchant navy:


You must complete your 12th with Physics,chemistry,Mathematics for being eligible for merchant Navy.
Your age should not more than 20 years.
For ST/SC candidates the age should be 25 years.
Only Unmarried male and female students are only eligible.


So with commerce background you are not eligible for merchant navy.
