You can join to B.E/B.Tech in Civil Engineering, if you have selected science as main stream in 12th. More precisely saying, you should have studied PCM as subjects. You must qualify entrance exams conducted at national or state level. MHT CET, IIT JEE, WB JEE, etc are some of such entrance exams. Qualified candidates in entrance exams are given admissions through a centralized counseling process.

Re: What should be done after passing 12th? I am interested in Civil Engineering
If you are interested in Civil Engineering then go for it. There is no need to consider any other course besides Civil Engineering. You will have to take admission in a engineering college for the B.E or B.Tech course.
Let me tell you that there is no difference between two degree. Some colleges like to call it B.E while some prefer to call it B.Tech. To get admission you will have to appear for the entrance exam. You basically have two options. First is the all India entrance exam which is Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). It is conducted for All India Engineering seats and Indian Institutes of Technology. Other option is state level entrance exam. While some states have opted for Joint Entrance Exam such as Maharashtra, others like Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh still conduct their own entrance exam. You can appear for the exam in state where you resides. Your first priority should be Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) since it offers admission in National Institutes of Technology as well Indian Institutes of Technology. JEE Eligibility 1. You should have completed 12th from recognized boards like CBSE. 2. Must have taken Physics, Chemistry and Maths in 12th Class. 3. Else you should have completed diploma of three years after 10th standard. 4. There is no criteria for marks. 5. Your age should be below 25 years to apply. 6. The upper age limit is relaxed to 30 years for SC/ST. 7. First exam is JEE Mains which is conducted for All India Engineering Quota. 8. The top 150,000 who qualifies Mains appear for JEE Advanced which is for IIT. 9. There is 3 consecutive attempts per candidate. |
