UPSC stands for the Union Public Service Commission. UPSC has been conducting various civil service examinations of Class-I & Class-II for many years. It has been rated as 'A' level examination in India.

You have not mentioned about any particular exam for which you want to know the upper age limit. UPSC conducts many exam in a year such as IAS (Indian Administrative Service), IPS (Indian Police Service), NDA (National Defence Academy), IES (Indian Engineering Service) and IFS (Indian Forest Service).

Generally candidates who have done their bachelor degree in any discipline are eligible for IAS & IPS exam. For IES they should have done their bachelor in Engineering.

For NDA, candidates should have completed at least their 10+2 with PCM subjects.

Now talking about the age criteria, age of candidates should be between 21 to 30 years except NDA. For NDA examination age of candidates should be between 16.5 to 19 years.

Age Relaxation (except NDA):
  • For OBC ~ 3 years
  • For SC/ST ~ 5 years
  • For Ex-service ~ 5 years.

UPSC stands for the Union Public Service Commission. It is responsible for conducting so many entrance exams at the national level.

You have mentioned that you are in central government services for the last five years and now willing to appear for the UPSC exams. But as per your query, it is not clear that in which UPSC exam, you are interested.

So, here is the age limit for different exams conducted by UPSC.

1. The age limit for the NDA entrance exam is 16.5 to 19 years for candidates of all category without any age relaxation in upper age limit.

2. For Special Class Railway Apprentice Exam, it is 17-21 years.

3. For Civil Services Exam:

>>General candidates : 21-30 years with no age relaxation. OBC and SC/ST candidates have age relaxation of three years and five years respectively. So for OBC, it is 21-33 years and for SC/ST candidates, it is 21-35 years.

This age criteria is applicable to Indian Engineering Service Exam, Indian Forest Services exam etc.

4. For Combined Defense Services, the different academies have different age limits.

>>For IMA: 19-24 years.

>>For Air Force Academy: 19-23 years.

>>For Naval Academy: 19-23 years.

>>For Officer's Training Academy: 19-25 years.

5. Central Police Force exam: It is between 20-25 years with age relaxation applicable to OBC, SC/ST candidates in upper age limit.

For any more details about these exam mentioned above, you can visit www.upsc.gov.in.
