NET stands for National Eligibility test
SET stands for State Eligibility test

The eligibility Criteria is same for both the examinations. To apply for both the examinations you have to complete your Post graduate degree course from a recognised University.

You have to scored minimum 55% marks in your Post graduation, Final year appearing candidates are also eligible for this examination.

Examination conducted twice in a year in June and December Every year and for this year June examination was already completed.

If you are Interested in NET Examination, then wait for the December Notification. It will be published soon in the month of October in the official website.

You have to attained the age of 19 years to apply for NET/SET Examination.

There is no upper age restrictions to apply for Lectureship post. For more details you can check from the official website:

NET stands for National Eligibility Test while SET stands for State Eligibility Test. Both are conducted for college lectureship and PhD. While National Eligibility Test is conducted for central government colleges the State Eligibility Test is conducted by each state separately.

The next National Eligibility Test (NET) will be conducted in June 2013. So far University Grants Commission has not released the notification. Generally it is issued couple of months before the exam. You can visit the official website to find out about the dates - ugcnetonline.in

As far as State Eligibility Test is concerned, you will have to be more specific. You must mention the state. Since each state conducts its own entrance exam, you will have to separately check for details. Some states have dedicated websites while others don't have such sites for SET entrance exam.


Eligibility

1. You should be citizen of India.

2. Post graduation degree from recognized college.

3. The minimum percentage required is 55%.

4. SC and ST need 50% marks.

5. Students in Final year are also eligible.

6. But you will have to submit the degree in 2 years else would be disqualified.

7. There is no restriction on number of attempts.

8. The NET subject you select should be related to post graduation course.


Age Limit

1. The age limit for JRF is 28 years.

2. Upto 3 years relaxation for OBC candidate.

3. Upto 5 years relaxation for SC and ST candidate.

4. There is no age criteria for lectureship.
