I definitely hope you are one among the lucky people who can afford to buy an MDS seat or go abroad and do post graduation there. And set up practice abroad or come back home and have an established family practice which you can join without much ado.
If you don't have money for all the above, you better be sure that you will pass out among the top 5 percentile of candidates which is the fraction likely to get through MDS exams and then land a goverment job.
It is a bleak future for those not in either of the above-mentioned categories.
I have seen the future of brilliant students go down the drain, who almost made it to the MDS. Even those who after spending 30- 40 lakhs for post-graduation have a tough time making ends meet. Social and family life is nil. Working hours gruelling. Most of the time is spent endlessly waiting for patients to come. Or if you are a consultant, you better have a good driver to get you to cover two or three districts.
