Why female candidates are not allowed to appear in NDA exam?

Hi friends, I don’t understand why female candidates aren’t allowed to take the NDA examination. If they have the right criteria like those of male candidates and are capable of passing the examination, why not let them join the training if they so wish?

NDA stands for National Defence Academy and examination is conducted by UPSC.

As per notification only male candidates are eligible to appear in examination. So, female candidates are not eligible to appear in examination.

It is conducted in two stages. Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to appear in examination.
