Can a girl fill National Defense Academy exam form? What is the eligibility criteria for female candidates? In which wing of NDA girls are allowed to join?

Girls are not eligible for National Defence Academy entrance examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

As per eligibility criteria, only unmarried male Indian citizens are eligible to apply for NDA/NA examination. Female candidates can apply for Combined Defence Services exam conducted by UPSC at bachelor's degree level.

NDA examination is conducted by UPSC twice in a year. The examination is conducted for recruitment in defense service.

The eligibility to appear for entrance examination is that candidate must have passed 12th from a recognized board.

The age limit is 16.5-19.5 years. Only male candidates are eligible to appear for the examination.

Girls are eligible to appear for CDS examination for which the required minimum qualification is bachelor degree in any discipline.

However, you can continue your dream to be a part of defence after graduation through various entries.

You can join OTA as an officer through CDSE entry.

You can join IAF flying branch through SSC and AFCAT.

You can be a ground officer in IAF through CET.

If you do your graduation in engineering then you can have opportunity to move to technical field through EKT.

No, you are not eligible to apply for the NDA (National Defence Academy) through UPSC as only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply for NDA examination. There is no wing where girls can join NDA. However, you can still join military forces after completion of your graduation through various examination :

- Indian Army : Through OTA (CDS) by UPSC.

- Indian Air Force : Through AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test).

- Indian Navy : Through Technical Entry under University Entry Scheme (UES).

The acronym NDA stands for National Defence Academy.

Female Candidates are not allowed to apply for the NDA exams.

Eligibilty to apply for NDA is:

Education- For army wing 12th pass in any stream
For Airforce and navy wing- 12th pass with physics and mathematics


But Women candidates can apply for the OTA wing through CDS exams

To appear in the CDS exams, you have to complete your graduation in any stream.
