Hello sir, I am studying in 12th and want to join Indian Army. Please tell me which wings of Army is good for a girl candidate? List of vacancies in Indian Army for girls?

First thing I would like to know you that being a girl candidate and higher secondary holder you are not eligible for joining any wing of Army at present rather any option for you in the defense sector opens for you when you complete your graduation degree.

Once you complete your graduation degree course to join Indian Army you will have to qualify CDS entrance examination to join CDS.

CDS refers to Combined Defense Services and CDS entrance examination is organized twice every year by UPSC.

* The minimum eligibility criteria required for appearing in CDS entrance examination to join Indian Army i.e; Indian Military Academy are as following :-

i) You must be an Indian citizen.

ii) Your age must lie within 19 years to 24 years.

iii) You must have completed your graduation degree course in any discipline from a recognized university.

Girls are not eligible to join the defence services after 12th educational qualification.

So, you are not eligible for it. But after completion of bachelor degree you have many options and entry through which you can join defence service.

But the required basic eligibility is only unmarried physically fit and bachelor degree candidates are eligible.

The available options will be through CDS, SSCO etc.

*Female candidates are not eligible for National Defence Academy entrance examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission. You can not apply for NDA entrance examination after 12th.

*Girls can apply for University Entry Scheme or Combined Defence Services to join Indian Army after bachelor's degree.

The very first thing I would like to inform you that being a Class 12th passed girl candidate you are not eligible for joining Indian defense sector through any entry as for girls the only entry in Indian Army is possible through CDS.

* CDS refers to Combined Defense Services and for joining the same you are required to qualify CDS entrance examination held twice in a year. The basic qualifications required for appearing in the same examination to join Indian Army are as here under :-

I) You must have the citizenship of India.

ii) Your age must lie in between 19 years to 24 years.

iii) You must have completed your bachelor degree course with any subject from a recognized university.

iv) You must strictly follow the physical fitness requirement norm as specified in the notification.

Right now while pursuing 12th or just after 12th qualification you will be not eligible to appear for any entrance examination conducted for recruitment in Indian Army.

As per eligibility girls candidates need minimum bachelor degree for any entry in defence service.

So, you have to pursue bachelor degree if you are interested in joining the Indian Army. The entries are CDS, SSCO ( WOMEN ). SSC - Tech, JAG etc.

1. Girls are not eligible for any wing of Defence after 10+2. NDA is competitive entrance exam for admission to different wings of Defence after 10+2.

2. One of the most important criteria for this examination is that only male candidates who are unmarried are eligible for this examination. It means female candidates can not apply for this exam.

3. Girls can join different academies of Defence at graduation level through Combined Defence Services.

NDA examination has following eligibility critera:

Academic qualification: 10+2. Science stream for Navy and Air Force.

Age limit is: 16.5-19.5 years.

Being girl, you are not eligible for any wing of Defence through NDA examination.
