Sir, I have 2.75 specs number. Am I eligible to join Indian Air force. Please tell me physical eligibility for girls. Please send me answer on

With spectacles you can join Indian Air Force but not in the flying branch as a pilot.

Girls who have completed their graduation with minimum 55% marks from a recognized university can appear for CDS examination and join Air Force. Candidate should be an Indian citizen and should be physically fit. Perfection of eyesight is must. The minimum eye power should not exceed -0.75D. If you are wearing spectacles, then it should be corrected to 6/9. Your height should be minimum 152 cms and weight should be in proportion to height.

Tell you that being a girl candidate, you are not eligible to join Indian Air Force right after 12th because only unmarried male candidates can join Indian Air force through NDA examination after 12th standard. The girl candidate who wishes to join Indian Air Force has to complete their graduation degree first and then the girl candidate can join Indian Air force through CDS exam which stands for Common Defence Service Exam or AFCAT. And to appear in CDS exam candidate must have bachelor's degree in Engineering or BSc with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects from any recognised universities and it should be in between 19 to 23 years.

It depends on the branch you want to join at Indian Airforce. If you are looking to become a Pilot, then it will be difficult to get selected with a weak eyesight.

In case of ground duty branch, they accept specs, but it also has some limits. Hence, you can try for ground duty branch or even technical branch through AFCAT.

You can join two branches of IAF with your specs except flying branch. You cannot join the flying branch just because of your spectacles. The eligibility criteria clearly states that the candidate should have clear vision without spectacles at the time of entry.

You can join Indian Air Force either through CDS(Common Defense Services) exam or AFCAT(Air Force Common Admission Test) exam.

Eligibility criteria for CDS exam are as under :-

-The candidate must have Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or B.Sc with Physics or Mathematics as main subjects from any recognized university.

-The candidate age limit should be in between 19 years to 23 years .

-The selection process involves of

* Written Exam

* Interview by Services Selection Board.

AFCAT exam is conducted for 3 branches namely Technical Branch,Flying branch and Ground duty branch.

The eligibility criteria required for AFCAT are as under :-

Educational Qualification :

For Technical Branch: Bachelor of Engineering .

For Ground duty branch : Graduation in any stream .

For Flying branch :Graduation in any discipline along with 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics .

Age limit :

For Technical Branch: 18 - 28 years

For Ground duty branch : 20 - 23 years

For Flying branch : 19 - 23 years .

Myopic candidates have some problem in joining the IAF

Since you ahve not mentioned if it is positive or negative 2.75, we cannot surely say if you would have any problem.

However, with this much of power, you are not eligible for any kind of technical or flying posts.

There would not be any problem in joining the administrative branch.
