I am a student of computer science and engineering, third year at bundelkhand institute of engineering and technology, jhansi with 61% aggregate and two current backlogs. Am i eligible to apply for Indian Army right now or not?

Yes, you are eligible to join Indian Army after completing your B.tech degree. To join Indian Army you have to qualify in CDS examination.

But, you need to clear your backlog to appear for examination. The examination is conducted by UPSC twice every year. The eligibility to appear for examination is :-

Candidate must have passed graduation degree from any recognised university.

Candidate's age must be between 19-24 years for Indian Army.

So, if you appear an qualify in examination, you are eligible to join Indian Army. The examination is conducted in two stages and have to qualify in both stages for final selection.

No, Pre Final year students are not eligible to apply for Indian Army Recruitment. Generally, candidates who have completed their Graduate Degree are eligible to apply for Indian Army Recruitment. The minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for appearing in Indian Army Recruitment is "Bachelor Degree" or Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Candidates who are doing their Final year are eligible to apply for Indian Army Recruitments and so Pre Final (third year B.Tech) Candidates are not eligible to apply for Indian Army Recruitments. So I suggest you to complete the Graduation first and then try applying for Indian Army based recruitments. You are required to apply or CDS (Combined Defence Services) Recruitment Examination in order to join Indian Military Academy, Indian Army and Indian Navy.

Yes being a Computer Science Engineering degree course pursuer you are eligible for joining Indian Army but for that you will have to wait till you complete your same degree course.

Also then you will have join Combined Defense Services ( CDS ) by clearing CDS entrance examination held by Union Public Service Commission twice every year in two stages which includes Written Test and Service Selection Board interview respectively.

For appearing in the same examination for joining Indian Military Academy (IMA) i.e; Indian Army, the qualifications which you must have apart from educational requirement which is mentioned in top paragraph are :-

* You must have the nationality of India.

* Your age must lie within 19 years to 24 years.

* You must be physically and mentally fit as per the service requirement norms.

No, only graduates can apply for Indian Army through CDS exam. Also, those who are expecting their final year results can apply. In your case you are still studying and haven't appeared for your final year exams which will be the problem your case.

Hence, try to clear the backlogs and after completion of degree you can apply for CDS exam without any doubt.
