Bachelor of Design and also what is the eligibility

Eligibility Criteria of B.Des (Bachelor of Design) course:

NID (National Institute of Design) conducts Design Aptitude Test (Entrance Examination) every year at all centers for admission into B.Des and M.Des courses.

Educational Qualification:

> Candidates who have passed or who will appear for qualifying examination under 10+2 (Higher Secondary) classes, or equivalent Examination from a recognized university.

Age Criteria: (As on June 1st of Academic year)

Maximum age: 20 years
There will be an age relaxation of 3 years for reserved candidates as per government norms.

Important Note: Allotment of the discipline of the choice at the end of Foundation year is not guaranteed. And discipline allotment takes place only at the end of the 1st year, purely based on candidate's performance in Foundation program and no.of seats available in desired discipline.

Streams in Bachelor of Design:

@ Communication Design: Animation Film Design, Graphic Design, Exhibition Design or Spatial Design, Film and Video Communication

@ Industrial Design: Furniture Design, Ceramic and Glass Design, Product Design

@ Textile, Apparel and Lifestyle Accessory Design: Textile Design

Bachelor of Design course is a Under Graduate level course that extends to a period of three or four years. It is degree belonging to the faculty of arts and it is offered in a number of branches like:

• Industrial Design
• Jewelry & Metal designing
• Textile Design
• Audiovisual Media
• Multimedia Design

The duration of Bachelor of Design course in the aforesaid branches of National Institute of Fashion Technology is four years. For seeking admission to the different branches of Bachelor of Designing course, you must have completed their 10+2 in any stream of education.
