Do I need to do graduation in Criminology if I want to join CID?


What is the advantage of joining CID rather than other police departments? and i have done my graduation from arts stream but do i need to start again with graduation in criminology? how many years will it take me to finish studying criminology?

If you have completed graduation degree then you are eligible for CID exam which is conducted by SSC through CGL exam.

Eligibility criteria for CID exam:-

Minimum qualification required to apply for this examination is completing a degree course from a recognized Institution.

Age criteria:-

Your age should in between 2 to 27 years.

Physical criteria for CID exam:-

For male candidates:-

i) Physical Standards ( Minimum )

Height 157.5 cms.
Chest 81 cms. ( expanded of 5 cms. )

ii) SSC Physical Test :

Walking : 1600 metres in 15 minutes.
Cycling : 8 Kms. In 30 minutes.

For female candidates:-

i) Physical standards ( Minimum )
Height 152 cms.
Weight 48 Kgs.

ii) Physical Test

Walking : 1 Km. in 20 minutes.
Cycling : 3 Kms. in 25 minutes.

c) Vision :

Eye-sight ( with or without glasses )
Distant vision : 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other eye.
Near vision 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye.

It is not necessary to do graduation in Criminology to join CID. You can join CID department after graduation in any discipline thorough Combined Graduate level exam conducted by Staff Selection Commission.

Your age should be between 20-27 years. Age relaxation is given to reserved category candidates.

You should full fill the minimum Physical requirements as per norms

Selection Process consist two stages:

Written exam (General Question and English)

Interview

No,there is no need for doing graduation with Criminology to join CID because the qualification required is graduation in any discipline.

CID stands for Criminal Investigation Department.

The exam is conducted by SSC and the candidates are selected on the basis of CGL exam which is generally held in the month of April every year.

The eligibility criteria to apply for the exam are following:-

-The candidate should be an Indian.

-The candidate must have completed graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized college/ university.Final year appearing student can also apply for the exam.There is no percentage bar for the marks obtained in the graduation degree.

-The age limit to apply for the exam is from 20 years to 27 years for general category,20 years to 30 years for OBC candidate and 20 years to 32 years for SC/ST candidates.

Physical Requirements:-

Height

For male candidate - 165 cms.

For female candidate -150 cms

Height is relaxed for Hill men and Tribals by 5 cms.

Chest : 76 cms with expansion.

Eye-Sight (with or without glasses)

Distant Vision :6/6 in one and 6/9 in other eye.

Near Vision:0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye

-The selection process involves;

* Written test,

*Physical test and

* Personal interview.

Normally, CID is a special Department, which follow up Investigations on major crimes. Most crimes were solved by the Police Department, if it is major CID sends a detective to help find the exit. CID is direct control of Central Government.

Yes, Of course you must have completed Graduation with Criminology to be eligible for the CID entrance exam. You must appear and qualify in the Common Graduate Level examination, which is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

Eligibility Criteria:

- Applicants must have Indian Nationality.
- Applicants must have completed Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University and final year student can also eligible.
- Applicants age must lie in between 18-27 years and upper relaxation will be given for reserved category students.
- Applicants must be physically and mentally fit.
