Benefits and drawbacks of studying PhD in Pharmacy?


I am doing M.Pharmacy in Pharmacology. After completing my M.Pharmacy I want to do PhD in Pharmacy. But some of my friends don't prefer me to do PhD. I would like to know the drawbacks and benefits of doing this course. Please tell me asap.

I did my m.pharma in medicinal Pharmaceutical chemistry my question is for you that, which field i have to choose industry or teaching and i also want to do a PHD but i am not NET OR GPAT qualified.
