If you have got Master's Degree in Statistics or its equivalent with at least 55% marks, then surely you can apply for Ph. D admission.

Admission in a Ph.D program is based on the performance in the entrance exam conducted by the University.

If you have qualified exams like NET/SLET, then you can use that score to get admission in a Ph.D program. Most of the Universities accept NET/SLET score for giving admission in Ph.D.

Stipend is only available when you are enrolled in a Fellowship. Most of the fellowships requires NET/SLET scores. Therefore, if you want to get stipend during your research program then you have to qualify NET/SLET.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
