You can apply unlimited time in UGC NET exam for lectureship post.

NET stands for National Eligibility Test which is conducted twice time in year by UGC.

Those candidates who have completed masters degree from a recognized university are eligible for NET exam. General and OBC candidates should hold 55% and above marks in masters degree. For SC/ST candidate its 50% and above in masters degree.

Age criteria for NET exam:-

For JRF Post :-Your age should be below 28 years.

For Lectureship Post :-There is no age criteria.

There is no restrictions on the number of attempts for UGC Lecturership examination. You can attempt for it for as much number of times you wish an even there is no age limit provided for the examination. But it is advisable for you to try and clear it as soon as possible as it will be for your own benefit.

As far as I know, there is age-restriction to appear for UGC NET examination which indirectly corresponds to number of attempts.
For JRF or Junior Research Fellowship program, you need to be under the age of 28 years. It is a PhD program where one becomes eligible for research work in various prestigious Research centres and Universities of India. For Lectureship (LS) exam, there is no upper age limit or indirectly on number of attempts. One can appear for this exam even at the age of 40 years.
So, one may keep on appearing for it until one gets the success.
