I'm in my final year of graduation(maths). But i've realised that my real passion is english. I'm from poor background so i'll try for bank jobs after graduation. While doing a job if i do my grad and post grad in english from IGNOU will i be eligible for UGC lecturership ? Pls help.

IGNOU is an recognized university and the certificates and degrees offered by the university is considered equivalent to the one offered by any other reputed university.
So, definitely you will be eligible to take the lectureship test conducted by the University Grant Commission. The test is known as National Eligibility Test and qualifying this test will make you eligible to get appointed as lecturer in colleges and universities located anywhere in India.

Age Limit:-There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing only for eligibility for lectureship

Applicants for Junior Research Fellowship should not be more than 28 years of age as on the first day of the month in which the NET Examination is to be held. For example, in case of NET to be held on 20.06.2004, a candidate born on 01.06.1976 or later is eligible because his/her age on 01.06.2004 is exactly 28 years or below; but any candidate born on or before 31.05.1976 shall be considered overage.

Those candidates who have even secured 54.99% marks or below (even 49.99% marks or below for SC/ST & PH/VH candidates) in Master's Degree or equivalent Examination are NOT eligible for this Test. THERE IS NO PROVISION OF ROUNDING OFF OF MARKS TO MAKE IT 55% (50% FOR SC/ST and PH/VH).

I m doing English Honours from IGNOU but it show on latter B.A whereas I m studying 48 credit elective courses in English so I ll get a English Honours or B.A degree

I am a BA English Hons from Delhi University, however had secured only 45% marks. Iwant to take up a carrer in teaching in either schools or colleges.

IGNOU is a recognized university, therefore if you completed post graduation from IGNOU and meet the percentage requirement, surely you will be able to appear for the National Eligibility Test.

To become lecturer in government colleges you will have to appear for the National Eligibility Test. This exam is conducted by the University Grants Commission on bi-yearly basis. You will need minimum of 55 percent marks in post graduation to appear for the NET entrance exam.


Eligibility

1. You should be citizen of India.

2. Post graduation degree in any discipline.

3. At least 55 percent marks are required.

4. SC and ST need 50 percent marks.

5. You should complete PG from a UGC recognized university.

6. Final year students are also eligible to apply.

7. But they should be able to submit the degree in 2 years.

8. The NET subject should be relevant to PG course.


Age Limit.

1. The age limit for Junior Research Fellowship is 28 years.

2. There is upto 3 years relaxation for OBC.

3. SC and ST are eligible for 5 years relaxation.

are there people with MA English from IGNOU and NET who got jobs as lecturers in any college/university

Will I be eligible to be a lecturer if I have done graduation in public Adm and master degree in English now I want to clear ugc net entrance in English.

some people have told that Ignou is not good there is less chance of getting a job and some people have told Ignou is good so my question is what to do im very confused please say the truth
