after completing b.e. in civil engineering....
is it compulsary to appear for GATE or
to crack GATE for doing ME civil (any specilisation )??
or just appearing for gate is essential????

Yes, GATE score is mandatory for doing M.E degree in Civil Engineering.

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

If you have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Architecture/Design or its equivalent or masters degree in science department then are eligible for GATE Exam.

There are no restriction for attempts in GATE exam.You can apply any number of time. There is no age criteria but your minimum age must be above 18 years.

No,there is no compulsion of appearing in GATE in order to get admission for ME course. GATE is an entrance exam through which you can get admission in the leading institutes for post graduation,i.e., ME course. GATE score is essential to get admission in the top institutes of the country like the IITs, NITs, ISM, IT-BHU and various other government institutes. Even the leading private universities also take admission on GATE score. Hence if you are aspiring for the top institutes, the GATE is must. Otherwise various government and private universities conduct their own entrance exams, so you can get admission in them for ME course by scoring well in those entrance exams.
