The Union Service Public Commission or the UPSC conducts an examination for the entry of Geologists in various posts of public sector units. A must examination for any person willing to make a career in this field, and every student of geology from the country takes this examination as a mandatory procedure. The examination is divided into two phases , a written examination and then an interview. The written examination consists of the following papers:
1. General English (100 marks, and of two hours duration)
2. Geology paper I (200 marks, and of 3 hours duration)
3. Geology paper II (200 marks, and of 3 hours duration)
4. Geology paper III (200 marks, and of 3 hours duration)
5. Hydrogeology. (200 marks, with duration of 3 hours)
The second Phase is an interview based on which the final selections are made.
