As your son is just reading in his 10th, so he will have to wait for about three years to appear in the NDA examination as the minimum qualification required for the same is that the student must have done his 12th or pursuing final year of it with physics , chemistry and mathematics as the main subjects from a reputed school/college of a recognized board. English is compulsory too .

NDA stands for national defense academy and the same examination is conducted by union public service commission two times in a year by the name of NDA I ( held in April ) & NDA II ( held in September ).

NDA has three wings which are as Indian Navy , Indian Air force and Indian Army.

The examination are conducted in two steps . At first , you wiil have to go for written examination and if you get through it then you will have to go for SSB interview .

Basic qualifications required at the time of examination are as ;

Your son's age must be within 16.5 years to 19 years and his martial status should be unmarried too .

He must be physically and mentally fit.

Your son is not eligible yet for NDA.
You must passed 12th from recognized board.
Student who are appearing in 12th are also eligible.
You need to fill the NDA form after 12th.
There is also technical entry.
In technical entry yo need to score 70% in PCM.
If ypu score 70% in PCM then you are eligible for direct SSB once.
You should be unmarried.
If you go through by technical entry then you don't have to give written exam.
If you fill NDA form then you will have to give entrance test theninterview after that medical and physical test.
You can also try CDS after graduation.

First of all to apply for NDA exam one has to complete his class 12th with a decent
percentage.

Then after that a written exam is held which is divided into papers:- paper-I and paper-II.

Paper-I is total mathematics based on the 10+2 level.
Paper -II is of general ability which comprises of English, history, geography, physics and chemistry.

After written exam SSB is held for those candidates who have cleared the written exam.

After clearing the SSB a candidate becomes a officer in the Indian armed forces.
