The Air Force Selection Board conducts Air Force Common Admission Test for recruitment of officers in the following branches:

• Flying Branch
• Technical Branch
• Ground Duty Branch

For each branch and each departments under the branches, the eligibility criteria varies. For the Flying Branch, candidate needs to be a graduate and must have studied Physics and Mathematics in the higher secondary level.
Candidates holding a degree in Engineering are considered for the Technical Branch of Indian Air Force and as far as the Ground Duty branch is concerned, candidates holding bachelors degree an any stream may apply.

The Air Force Common Admission Test in conducted twice a year and the notification is published in the month of December and June every year.

Apart from this test, candidates may join the Flying Branch also through Combined Defense Service Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission. This examination is also conducted twice a year and the notification for the same is published on the official website of Union Public Service Commission.
