Its good to start preparing right now for giving gate exam next year. You are eligible to apply for the exam.

Application forms are out in october month & exams are scheduled in mid-february.

You can fill up the form online or collect it from zonal gate offices.

For GATE CS paper, refer the following books:

Oswal Chapter Wise Gate Computer Science Engineering.

ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS

Mathematical Logic: Propositional Logic; First Order Logic.

Probability: Conditional Probability; Mean, Median, Mode and Standard Deviation; Random Variables; Distributions; uniform, normal, exponential, Poisson, Binomial.

Set Theory & Algebra: Sets; Relations; Functions; Groups; Partial Orders; Lattice; Boolean Algebra.

Combinatorics: Permutations; Combinations; Counting; Summation; generating functions; recurrence relations; asymptotics.

Graph Theory: Connectivity; spanning trees; Cut vertices & edges; covering; matching; independent sets; Colouring; Planarity; Isomorphism.

COMPUTER SCIENCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Digital Logic: Logic functions, Minimization, Design and synthesis of combinational and sequential circuits; Number representation and computer arithmetic (fixed and floating point).

Computer Organization and Architecture: Machine instructions and addressing modes, ALU and data-path, CPU control design, Memory interface, I/O interface (Interrupt and DMA mode), Instruction pipelining, Cache and main memory, Secondary storage.

Programming and Data Structures: Programming in C; Functions, Recursion, Parameter passing, Scope, Binding; Abstract data types, Arrays, Stacks, Queues, Linked Lists, Trees, Binary search trees, Binary heaps.

Web technologies: HTML, XML, basic concepts of client-server computing.

the GATE examination for 2011 is already over. the result of GATE 2011 will come on 15th March, 2011.


the notification for GATE 2012 will come on the month of September, 2012. at that time you will be in 5th semester and you will be eligible for GATE examination.


GATE notification will come on the IIT website. online and offline both type of form fill up are available for GATE examination. you may fill up form in one of these two ways.


now you should start preparation for GATE examination. whatever you have learned in the second year and the mathematics paper in first year try to practice them attentively. in GATE question come from mathematics near about 20 to 25 marks. so you should complete mathematics portion carefully. after that complete technical subject, try to collect the syllabus for GATE examination from the website http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in

Firstly , at present you are not eligible for GATE as only students of 4th year or Btech passed are eligible for this exam.

dear friend yes you are eligible for GATE exam in next year.


because next year you are in 3rd year and in GATE exam 3rd and 4th yr. are eligible for this exam.


because GATE score is valid for 2 yrs.that's why you attend this exam 2times.

and your score card is valid for 2 years.

you should must prepare for next GATE exam which is coming in November.

This Year The gate Exam has been Over successfully But being a 4th Semester Student you are Not Eligible For applying it Now.

But yes You will be Eligible after completing your 5th Semester Exam when you will be in 6th Semester.

Notification will come For the Next year in the Month September of this year and Exam will be held in the Month of February.

So its very Good that you have taken Right decision Now or you have started thinking in this Line.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering – GATE Eligibility 2011

The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear for GATE 2011 :

Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
Master’s degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master’s degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master’s degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.
Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AMICE(I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

Though you are not eligible to apply and this year you don't have chance to apply,because the exam also been conducted.

You have another chance to apply for GATE (Graduate aptitude test exam). The notification will be released in the month of September 2011.At the time of applying for the exam,you will be in 5th semester, that is the current time to apply and you are eligible to apply for the exam.

And exam will be conducting in the month of January 2012.
If you qualify in first attempts,that rank will be valid for 2 years,so that after your graduation you can apply some of the IIT's colleges and you can continue your post graduation without any break.

If you didn't qualified, you have another chance to apply for the exam,while pursuing your graduation.If you get rank,you will not have break in between your studies.

So work hard to qualify within in two years.
