Geographer - How to Become a Geographer?
Geography is the branch of study that deals with the features of the Earth such as Lands, inhabitants and the several phenomena that is associated with it. It motivates the people to ask different questions that are related to the environment as well as the places around the world. By studying geography, the people can obtain a thorough understanding of the maps. Geographers find an important place in the society by providing the people across the world with essential information.
Geographers study about the physical phenomena which ahs been scattered around the world in minute detail. Mainly the geographers are divided into different types. Those people who are responsible for the distributions of economic resources are known as economic geographers. The geographers those who study about the relationship between political phenomena and geography are political geographers and those who deals with the cultural phenomena are called cultural geographers. Physical geographers study about the difference in climate, landforms as well as its effects on the human beings. Medical geographers deal with the study of health care systems, how the environment influences the health of the human beings.
Qualifying Exam
In order to become a Geographer, the candidate has to undergo a 3 year Under Graduate course in B.A. Geography. The candidates can opt for B.A. in Geography after finishing their Pre degree or plus two. After the graduation courses the candidates can pursue their higher education in Geography by opting M.A. Geography.

Who is eligible to apply?
The aspirants should possess a graduation or Post Graduation in Geography so as to become an eligible geographer. The basic requirement that should be met to become a Geographer is to have a minimum of 50% marks for the 12th standard board examination.

- The candidate have to complete the 12th grade examination from any recognized schools that falls under the state or central boards with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
- The candidate can opt for B.A in Geography for any specializations offered in the field of Geography.
- The candidates can then take up M.A. followed by PhD in the relevant field of study.
- Search and apply for the Job profiles that match with that of the Geographer.
Skills Required for a Geographer
A geographer should possess certain skills such as reasoning skills, problem solving skills, presentation skills etc. They should be good in communication and should have good analyzing skills also. Adequate research skills are required for this kind of jobs.
