Geologist Examination for recruitment of Geologist Group A – UPSC
UPSC denotes the Union Public Service Commission and it is a constitutional body entrusted with the power of conducting different common examinations for appointment of candidates to different civil services of the union. Geologist examination is one among the different examinations conducted by the UPSC for appointment of geologists.
Recruitment by UPSC:
UPSC has invited applications from eligible Indian candidates for the position of Geologist in Geological Survey of India by conducting Geologist examination.
Name of the Vacancy: Geologist Group A
Number of Vacancies: 300
Out of the 300 vacancies, 15 vacancies are reserved for physically challenged candidates coming under hearing impairment category.
Eligibility requirements:
Educational qualification: Candidates must have completed their Master’s degree in geological science or geology or applied geology or oceanography or resource management or earth science or marine geology or engineering geology or mineral exploration or coastal area studies from an institution approved by the UGC.
Age Requirement: The minimum age limit is 21 years and maximum age limit is 32 years as on the 1st of January 2011, which indicates that candidates must have born between 2nd Jan 1979 and 1st Jan 1990. Selection Procedure:
Shortlisted candidates will be called for written test, which is the Geologist Examination, which will be followed by interview.

Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements, will have to apply online through the website of UPSC at http://upsc.gov.in/ before 19th of September 2011 before 11.59 pm and candidates from remote areas should send the application in prescribed format so as to reach the following address before the 26th of September 2011:
