Physiotherapy is a developing profession all over the world, which involves working for the rehabilitation and benefit of the differently abled individuals. What will BPT course offer to the students?
In the Bachelor of Physiotherapy Course shortly called as BPT course offered in Government colleges, students will be trained in core skills like application of electro physical modalities, therapeutic exercise and manual therapy. When a candidate completes this course, he/she will be able to judge and improve the movement potential of a victim through motion.
Duration of the course:
The duration of BPT course is normally four and half years and on successful completion of this period, students will have to take up six months of compulsory internship programme, which is the final phase of the course. This internship programme is designed to offer job exposure to the students through real clinical practice. In most of the aforesaid government colleges, students are allowed to complete the internship in the hospital attached to the college.
Eligibility for joining BPT course:
A candidate seeking admission to the BPT course must have completed his/her higher secondary course in science stream with biology, chemistry and physics. Admission to this course is normally made on the basis of state-level of national-level entrance examinations.
Higher Studies after BPT:
Students who have completed their UG course in Physiotherapy, can take up PG course known as Master of Physiotherapy in India and in other countries as well. They can also pursue higher studies in different streams like hospital administration, physiology, anatomy, etc…
Career opportunities after BPT:
Many government and private sector hospital appoint physiotherapists and they can get placement opportunities in rehabilitation departments of state and central governments, defense medical establishments, medical rehabilitation centres, health institutions and centers for physically challenged people. If these professionals can invest some capital, they can also begin their own clinics. Even candidates with urge towards teaching can get job opportunities in medical colleges in the department of physiotherapy.
What is the remuneration of BPT degree holders?
The initial pay for BPT degree holders in government hospital might be somewhere between Rs. 5000 and 7000. However, private hospitals offer a better pay package of Rs. 10000 to 150000 per month. Even these professionals can earn better when they gain some experience and when they start their own private clinic.

My brother is a student of b.s.c(pure science). He want to read in physiotherapy from any government college of west Bengal.
