Kangra District is located in the Western Himalayas between the 75O to 77O45 E and 31O2 to 3205 N. The district is spread over an area of 5739 kms and it is bounded by the Una and Hamirpur district to the south, Mandi District to the southeast, Kullu district to the east, Spiti and Lahul district to the northeast and Chamba District to the north. The district shares its borders with the Jammu and Kashmir to the northwest and the state of Punjab to the southeast.
