Sahibganj Districts is one among the 24 districts in the state of Jharkhand and the district has the town of Sahibganj as its administrative headquarters. The district was carved out of the erstwhile Santhal Parganas District by separating its Pakur and Rajmahal subdivisions. Then again in the year 1994, the Pakur District was formed out of the Pakur Sub-division. The present territory of Sahebganj District was a part of the Bengal Subah of the Mughal Empire.

Literacy rate of Sahebganj District is 53.73% and the sex ratio of the district is 948 females for every 1000 males. The principal spoken language in Sahebganj District is Angika. When it comes to higher education in Sahebganj District, it has four colleges for offering education in the faculty of arts, science and commerce. Two of the colleges functioning from the district are constituent colleges of the Sido Kanhu Murmu University, which is a public university established through an Act of the Bihar State Legislature by the Government of Bihar and two other colleges are private colleges. The names of these two constituent colleges of Sido Kanhu Murmu University being a government university are given below:

Sahibganj College, Sahibganj:

As mentioned earlier, Sahibganj College is a constituent unit of the Sido Kanhu Murmu University, which is a state university. By acting as a constituent unit of the university, the college offers Bachelor of Arts, Science and Commerce courses with affiliation from the same university under different subjects.

S.R.T. College, Dhamri:

Like Sahibganj College, S.R.T. College is also a constituent unit of Sido Kanhu Murmu University offering courses in the faculties of arts, science and commerce. Some of the subjects offered by the colleges in the streams of arts and science are Political science, psychology, history, sociology, mathematics, physics, chemistry, etc…

Even though, the number of colleges is lesser in the Sahebganj District of the state of Jharkhand, these two government colleges and the other two private colleges offering education in the district has so far produced a number of graduates. Candidates graduated from these institutions have secured good ranks at university level and most of them are placed in top rated organizations and some of them take up higher education after securing a graduation from these colleges. Due to the best quality of education offered by these colleges, candidates can gain greater exposure.
