The Kerala Law Entrance Examination is carried out for the admittance of students into the graduate as well as post-graduate level courses in Law. The exam is held by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Trivandrum.

Eligibility criteria for the Law Entrance Exam

Bachelor’s course:

5 year LLB - A pass in standard 12 is necessary to get admittance to this course. Applicants ought not to be below 17 years when they apply. More than 40 percent marks should have been scored by them in their finals.

3 Year LLB – A graduate degree in any discipline is sufficient. More than 40 percent marks must have been scored by the students.

Master’s Course

2 Year LLM – Applicants must have a 3-year or 5-year LLB degree certification. This certification must be from a law institute that has an approval rom the UGC and BCI.

Only those students who satisfy all the elgiblity requirements as mentioned in the exam prospectus will be allowed to appear for the Kerala Law Entrance Exam (KLEE).

Structure and Syllabus for Government of Kerala Law Entrance Exam

  • Separate exams shall be conducted for the admittance of students into the graduate as well as postgraduate level courses.
  • Graduate level test – Questions on English language, legal aptitude and current affairs will be asked at this level.
  • Postgraduate level test – Questions on law subjects are asked at this level.
  • The maximum time allowed for this exam is150 minutes. The mode of exam for the KLEE will be English.

Exam Pattern of Government of Kerala Law Entrance Exam

The exam syllabus will be similar to that of class 10+1 and 10+2. The paper is divided into:

  • English Language
  • General Knowledge
  • Legal Aptitude

The questions that are asked will be of the objective nature.

Preparing for Government of Kerala Law Entrance Exam

The examination won’t be difficult for those students who have prepared well. Students must understand the concept of the subjects really well when they start the exam preparation. It is also needed by the students to have a good knowledge about legal aptitude. When preparing for the exam, students can keep a schedule on each subject. This will help them to a very great extend. It is also necessary for students to have good general knowledge. Solving question papers of the previous exams will also help the students a lot in their preparation. Apart from providing them with a good knowledge on the exam pattern, doing this will help them gain speed as well. If students need more help, they can enroll themselves with coaching centres or refer guide books and study by themselves. Practicing either of these methods will ensure the success of the candidates.
