Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test will contain one hundred and fifty objective type questions which should be answered in three hours. There will be penalty for wrong answer. Questions will be asked from topics prescribed for Bachelor of Pharmacy course. As it is national level competitive exam, a thorough preparation is necessary so as to clear the test. Candidates can refer the text books for B.Pharm along with other study materials to score good marks.

Exam Pattern of GPAT

Question Booklet of GPAT comprises of a single paper having one hundred and fifty questions. There will be multiple choice objective type questions in the examination. Each question carries three marks. There will be negative marking for wrong answers. One mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. Maximum time allotted for the entire exam is three hours.

Candidates can expect questions from the topics prescribed for Bachelor of Pharmacy. Questions will be asked so as to measure candidates’ level of aptitude in Pharmacy and other subjects related to it. Questions will cover topic such as Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmcognosy and Pharmacology. Most of the questions will be asked from basic principles, formulae and applications and fundamentals of pharmacy.

Preparation Tips for GPAT

Candidates who wish to appear for Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test should follow the prescribed syllabus so as to score good marks. Most of the questions will be asked from the topics prescribed for graduate level of studies. Hence it is better to follow the text books prescribed for Bachelor of Pharmacy. They can start preparation from the final year of the course. As a first step, they can go through the text books and self notes. Candidates who have acquired thorough knowledge can start revision three months before the exam date. They can go through the GPAT model test along with the question models obtained from various websites.  From the next month onwards, aspirants can rely on several study materials so as to update their knowledge. They can attend mock tests and do self evaluation.

Apart from this, it is preferable to go through various study materials available in the market. Practicing previous question papers will help to maintain time management. But candidates should keep in mind that, the exam pattern varies from time to time. The number of questions has increased in 2012. Hence it is better to rely on the latest versions of model question papers. They are advised to go through the important formulae and equations just one week before the exam.
