Paper pattern

The paper consists of five questions in total. The candidates have to answer all the five questions. The question paper has no sections. Each question is divided into two sub questions. Many questions need diagrams for explanation. The paper clearly asks the candidates to make assumptions as and when required. Proper symbols are to be used throughout the paper. While making assumptions, the candidate must explain the meaning of the assumptions that are made.

Distribution of marks

The total marks allotted for the paper is 70. Each question carries 14 marks and each sub question carries 7 marks. The candidate has to answer all five questions. There are no compulsory questions in the paper. Choice is given in each question, though.

Duration of the paper

The paper should be completed within two and a half hour. Before the start of the exam, the candidates are given fifteen minutes so that they can read the question paper carefully and can make wise choices of questions that they wish to answer. This time should not be wasted and should be spent in clarifying any doubts that a candidate should have.

About the subject

The subject is based on number systems of computer circuits and logic circuits. The candidate has be very well versed in theoretical knowledge and should be able to apply the theoretical knowledge in practical cases as well as in numerical. The candidate should have all the theorems on his finger tips. A good practice of numerical sums is required as the candidate will have to solve the numerical sums within the limited time. It is advisable to practice the sums thoroughly before the exam.
