Gunpur College began its functions from the 2nd of July 1973 and it was founded with the help of sacrifice and benevolence shown by the local people. The college was affiliated to Berhampur University in the year 1974 on the month of August. Subsequently, on the 11th of November 1975, the education department of Orissa Government awarded recognition to the college. The college received affiliation for I.A courses from the academic year 1974-75 and for honors courses in the year 1979-80.

Courses Offered:

Gunpur College is offering education in commerce, science and arts stream of education. The college is offering under graduation general and honors courses under commerce, economics and history streams.

Objectives of the colleges:

The aim of the college is to offer all-round education, to improve the potentialities of young women and men and to help the people engaged in pursuit of knowledge and truth in view of the spiritual, physical and intellectual values. The college aims at inculcating the sense of community service, social responsibility and discipline among the future generations of the nation.

Facilities:

The management has provided the college with several facilities like co-operative store, hostel and library. A student union is also functioning in the college to help the students.

The college is offering several scholarships like Satyanarayana Pantulut Memorial Scholarship, Abimanyu Rath Scholarship, orthopedically handicapped scholarship, aid to children of ex-servicemen, freedom fighter’s scholarship, post-merit scholarship for SC/ST students, senior college merit scholarship and national loan scholarship for meritorious and financially poor students.
