How to Prepare for GIM Entrance Exam?
The GIM is one of the reputed business schools in India and this was founded in 1993. The Goa Institute of management conducts an entrance exam for candidate’s admission into post graduate programs. This institute is recognized by AICTE for its two year MBA program. The GIM uses XAT scores for short listing candidates. Therefore it is necessary for candidates who wish to get admission in GIM must appear for XAT. The short listed candidates should appear for General Discussion and personal interview.
Structure of the GIM entrance exam
The XAT exam consists of two parts. The first one is objective type questions and second one is essay writing. The first section consists of objective type question with multiple choices. Each question carries four options and the candidate has to select the right answer. The Entrance Exam consists of 200 multiple choice questions. The duration of the exam is 120 minutes. There is a minus marking for incorrect answer. For each one of the wrong answer, 1/3 mark will be taken away from the candidate’s mark.
Syllabus of the GIM entrance exam
The questions are from verbal aptitude, English, quantitative capability, DI, logical interpretation and general knowledge. Verbal ability and reading comprehension will get questions from miscellaneous words, sentences, jumbled paragraph, vocabulary, grammar, etc. Quantitative ability section covers the syllabus of mathematics, geometry, modern math, speed and distance, line graph and diagrams etc. The second one is essay writing. They have to write essay for the given topic. The duration of this test is 20 minutes and word count is 250 to 300 words.

There are many books which students can refer to while preparing for the GIM entrance exam. The exam pattern will be similar to other Exams like CAT, MAT etc.

Candidates must follow a strict plan as to get qualified in the written test. First of all students must have to maintain a time table which will fit your life. Make your basics strong. This is very important. Study all the formulas in maths and other rules straight. The candidate should give lot of importance to current affairs and important happenings around the world. They can know this from reading newspapers, magazines and watching TV news. They should build up vocabularies and reading skills. Candidates must practice with as many previous years question papers. This will help to increase the speed while answering and also make students familiar with the question pattern. Purchase only standard books for the exam. It is also better to get help from coaching centres and friends through group study method.
