As like other company’s recruitment drive, HPCL also conducts a written test in the first stage. The test will comprise of two parts of total duration two hours. Candidates have to qualify the two parts separately to get into the next step of procedures. There will be total of 170 questions in the written test which are of objective type. Candidates have to pick the correct answer from the choices given for each question. Of the total 170 questions, part-1 includes 120 questions and part-2 includes 50 questions. The written test can be easily cracked if the candidates have prepared thoroughly for it. They have to plan a well structured schedule for the preparations. It must be effective and stress less. They should make a clear idea about the syllabus of the examination and divide the whole syllabus into small sections depending on their knowledge and level of difficulty in each. If candidates have qualified the written test, then they have to score well in the interview also to get a job in the company. They need to prepare for this in advance. In this stage they have to face many technical questions and questions from their project works. So they need to make a strong and in-depth knowledge in these areas. They must be confident in answering the questions from the interviewer. They should not argue or show over smartness to the interviewer. The necessary thing they should follow is that they have to maintain the same confidence level till the end of the interview, no matter whether the interview is a success or failure.

In most of the interviews, the judging panel will ask the candidates to ask any question to the interviewer. In such situations, they can ask question about the company which will expose their interest towards it and finally they have to go through the HR interview.
