Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) is the premier institute for technical education in the country. Only the best of the students from across the country are selected for its programmes. Eligibility criteria:

For PhD in Engineering:

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Medical Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Pharmacy with atleast 60% marks or CPI of 6.5
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Medical Sciences with 70% marks or CPI of 7.5
• Bachelor’s degree from IIT with a CPI of 7

For PhD in Design:

• March, MDes or MTech, ME degree with atleast 60% marks or CPI of 6.5
• Master’s degree in Applied Arts, Ergonomics, Fine Arts, Psychology, Physiology with atleast 60% and CPI of 6.5.
• Bachelor’s degree from IIT with a CPI of 7

For PhD in Science:

• Master’s degree in Science with a minimum 60% of marks and CPI of 6.5
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Design from IIT with CPI of 7.0

For PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences:

• Master’s degree in Arts, Commerce, and Science with a minimum of 55% marks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Design from IIT with CPI of 7.0

Last date of submission of Forms: Mid week of October, 2011

Availability of Application forms:

The forms will be directly available from IIT, Guwahati. The form can also be obtained by post from IIT, Guwahati by sending request for form. Candidates can also download the form online through the websitewww.iitg.ernet.in. The candidates that are interested in earning their application form through post have to forward a Demand Draft along with a requisite letter.

The candidates are advised to duly forward the letter with specific documents along with mentioning of the registration number. The candidates are also advised to provide a specimen of their signature at the back side of the Demand Draft along with various other important documents to the given address. The Institute will reply to the candidate with an application form.

However the Institute holds no responsibility of the loss of the application form or late arrival or departure of the letter and the application form respectively.
