Political science and international relations paper 2 has to be answered by those who are planning to get them into various high posts in Karnataka Public Service Commission. This is a compulsory paper. The candidates need to score 30% or more for this paper to be eligible for the interview process. To crack the paper, the candidates are required to have exceptional knowledge on the political past of our country.

Paper pattern

The paper is totally descriptive and consists of four sections A, B, C and D. The first three sections are compulsory and all the questions from those sections have to be answered. From section D, the candidates do not need to answer all the questions. They need to answer only three from this section. The questions are based on the political history of India and require the candidates to have a lot of knowledge regarding the constitution of the country.

Allotment of marks

The paper is for a total of 300 marks. The first three sections carry 20, 100, 90 marks respectively. Three questions need to be attempted from section D and each of them carries 30 marks. The total mark of this section is 90.

Duration of the paper

Three hours will be allotted for completing the question paper. The examination is competitive and the candidates will not be allowed any time to read the question paper. The question paper will be sealed and the seal should be broken only when you are instructed by the supervisor.

Preparation

Since the examination is competitive, it is tough to crack it without regular practice. The best way to prepare is y referring previous year question papers and by making use of books like Indian politics by Lakshmikant, Ancient India by D.D.Kausambi. These books will help you master India’s political history.
