Political and International relations paper-1 has to be answered by those who are aspiring to get appointed to various posts in Karnataka Public Service Commission. The paper requires the candidates to have a lot of general knowledge especially about the political history of the country. The question paper is printed in both English and Urdu.

Paper pattern

The paper is divided into four sections A, B, C and D. All the candidate are required to answer sections A, B and C. These three sections are compulsory. Section D is not compulsory, candidates need to answer only three questions from it out of the five printed in the question paper. The paper is totally descriptive. The questions are based on history, especially the political history of our country. The paper also consists of questions regarding the constitution of India and thus the candidates are required to learn that area thoroughly.

Distribution of marks

The whole paper is for a total mark of 300. Sections A, B and C have to be answered compulsorily and carry 20, 100, 90 marks respectively. Section D from which the candidates have to choose three questions carry 90 marks.

Duration of the paper

Candidates are allotted 3 hours for completing the paper. This is a paper where the candidates have to rely a lot on their memory power. The candidates will not be allowed to any time for reading the question paper and the candidates can break the seam of the question paper only when the invigilator asks them to do so. No extra time will be allotted for completing the question paper.

Preparation

Refer to previous years question papers when preparing for the exam. Referring various books will also help.
