Karnataka public service commission conducts exam every year for selecting those who are eligible for various posts within the commission. The exam consists of preliminary exam and those who pass in the prelims are called for the main exam and interview. Selection is based on the main exam and the interview. For the main exam, General English, General knowledge and mathematics paper have to be answered by all the candidates. In addition to the compulsory subjects, the candidates need to answer any two out of the 12 optional papers. Administration paper 1 is one of the optional papers that the candidates can answer.

Key points of the paper

The paper consists of questions regarding the administrative procedures within our country. This is a very important elective paper. The paper is totally descriptive and there are no objective questions in the paper. The paper consists of two sections A and B. Section A consists of four questions and each question consists of sub questions. Section B also consists of four questions. Questions 1 to 5 are compulsory and all the candidates have to answer these questions. From the remaining questions, the candidates have to answer three questions but they have to make sure that the three questions are from both the sections. The questions are printed in both English and Urdu.

Scoring requirement

The duration of the paper is 3 hours. The candidates will not be allotted any reading time as the exam is competitive. No extra time will be allotted. The total mark of the paper is 300. The candidates need to secure 35% to pass the exam. The very best way to practice for the exam is by referring to previous year question papers.
