Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya is called as Bidhan Chandra Agricultural University and as it is clear from its name, the university is an agricultural university that came into existence in the year 1974. It is a public university operating from a rural campus and it aims at offering higher education in the technical fields of agricultural engineering, horticulture and agriculture thereby offering high value and modern education with a view to create scientists of tomorrow with the capability to work not only at national level, but at international levels as well.
Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya is offering education in the faculties of agriculture, horticulture and agricultural engineering. In addition to these faculties of education, Directorate of research and directorate of extension education are also functioning under the university in such a way that the university can concentrate not only in educational activities, but also in research and extension activities as well. In addition, Directorate of farms is also functioning under the university, which functions in the realm of agricultural extension, agricultural education and agricultural research. The university also has a placement cell to assist students in finding perfect job opportunities.
