Gurukul Kangri University is shortly called as GKU and this university came into existence in the year 1902 on the 4th of March with the objective of reviving the ancient Indian Gurukula System on the bank of Ganges at a distance of about 200 kms from the city of Delhi and 6 kms from Hardwar. The university aims are offering quality education in modern sciences, Indian culture, Indian philosophy and vedic literature and it is a wholly funded deemed university. The university earned the status of deemed university in the year 1962 from the University Grants Commission for its distinguished services and it also earned four-star status from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council in the year 2002.
