NET or National Eligibility Test is held to determine the eligibility for lectureship and the successful candidates are awarded as junior research fellowship. This is for maintaining the standard of teaching profession.

What is taught in this paper?

The paper is of study of regional languages, different cultures and their tradition. The paper is for the knowledge of ancient cultures.

Importance of this subject:

The paper is important as this gives information about the ancient cultures and their regional values which is also a heritage for the society.

Paper Pattern:

The paper is a descriptive paper and it contains questions which are divided into 4 sections; Section A is of 2 very long answer type questions which are of 500 words and both questions have their own alternative, Section B is of 3 questions which are to be answered in 300 words each, Section C is of 9 questions which are to be answered in 100 words and last section is of 5 questions which are based on the unseen passages.

The questions are such as definition of literature, explanation of ‘Rupakalankar’, beginning of ‘Dravid literature’, ‘doha’ of ‘Biharilal’, a proverb with its illustration, ancient poetry and its meaning, development of language from short-stories, characteristics of folk stories etc.

Marks and time:

The total marks in the paper are 200 and time allotted is 2 hours and 30 minutes only. Questions in Section A are of 20 marks each, questions in Section B are of 15 marks each, Section C is of 10 marks each and Section D is of 5 marks each.
