National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) admits students to its BA LLB course through CLAT. National University of Advanced Legal Studies is one of the 12 national law universities in the country. NUALS is amongst the famous judicial institutions of India which was founded by state of Kerala as national level law Institute.

The National University of Advanced Legal Studies was founded in 2005 by virtue of act 27. This university is managed by the Bar Council of Kerala and Bar Council of Kerala Trust. It is considered as the heart and soul of an institution imparting quality education. This university distributes all sorts of study materials to the students and also conducts special training programs. National University of Advanced Legal Studies is situated in the city of Kochi in Kerala. It provides 5 years BA LLB (Hons.) and has 65 seats for the program out of which 41 seats are reserved for Open category candidates. NUALS is considered to be a highly reputed institute for law education in the country.

Campus:

The National University of Advanced Legal Studies has a very good infrastructure, facilities and experienced and highly qualified faculty.  The university is spread over an area which was allotted by the government of Kerala of about 2.5 acres of land and a permanent building. Government has also allotted 10 acres of land for 90 years at Kalamassery for constructing the permanent campus of this national University. The university provides standard and quality services in the Library and has setup a good computer wing with unlimited Internet facility for its students.

Placement:

National University of Advanced Legal Studies offered placements in leading firms like Majmudar & Co., ICICI, Lakshmi Kumaran & Sreedharan etc.

Eligibility Criteria:

A candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 50% aggregate marks (45% for reserved categories). Those who are appearing for class 12th exams in 2011 can also apply.

Also a candidate should be under 20 years (22 years for reserved categories) before 1st July, 2011.

Availability of Application forms:

Since the admission to NUALS is through CLAT candidates need to apply for CLAT. Candidates can get the form of CLAT through designated branches of Indian Bank, State bank of India and all participating National Law Schools. Candidates can also download the form through the website www.clat.ac.in One can also get the forms of CLAT through the CLAT office by post by sending a demand draft along with the request for form.

Important Dates for CLAT (Tentative):

Date of Entrance Examination: second week of May 2011

Availability of Application Forms: 2nd week of January, 2011

Last Date for receipt of completed application forms: first week of April, 2011

Division of seats:

Open Merit: 41 Seats (65 per cent)

Other Backward Classes : 16 Seats (25 per cent)

Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes: 6 Seats (10 per cent) (SC – 5, ST – 1)

Persons with disability: 2 seats (3 per cent)

Examination Pattern of CLAT:

CLAT paper will be of 2 hours containing 200 multiple choice questions from the following sections:

English including Comprehension: 40 questions

General Knowledge/Current Affairs: 50 questions

Elementary Mathematics: 20 questions

Legal Aptitude: 45 questions

Logical Reasoning: 45 questions
