The University of Jammu, commonly known as the Jammu University offers Master of Philosophy programme in a number of disciplines like arts and science streams. Post graduate degree holders in related subjects can apply for the M. Phil course.

Eligibility

Candidates, who have a Master’s degree in the concerned subject from a recognized University, are eligible to apply for the Master of Philosophy programme. Candidates with a Master’s degree in allied subjects in the second division are also eligible to apply.

Preference will be given to candidates who have cleared the UGC NET examination. Those working in research projects/schemes within the Department are also given preference.

Admission procedure

Aspirants can procure the application forms from the office of the Deputy Registrar (Forms and Stationary) University of Jammu, Jammu.

Filled in application forms should be submitted to the office of the Head of the Department of the concerned Department. Candidates are required to enclose relevant documents.

Candidates have to clear the entrance examination conducted by the concerned department for admission to the M. Phil course.

The merit list will be based on the marks scored in the entrance examination and the qualifying examination.

The intake will depend on the number of applicants, areas of research etc. It will be determined by the Departmental Research Committee.

Candidates are required to appear for the interview on the specified date. The course fee has to be paid within 45 days of admission.
