Procedure to join CBI as Sub Inspector
The first step to join CBI as Sub Inspector is to clear the Combined Graduate Level Exam conducted by Staff Selection Commission. Those who clear this round will then have to qualify in the physical fitness round. The final selection will be made on the basis of a personal interview. Article briefly discusses the steps to be followed for joining CBI as Sub Inspector.
Step 1: Clear the Combined Graduate Level Exam
The first step is to clear the Combined Graduate Level Exam conducted by SSC. Aspirants must be in the age limit of 20 to 25 years to apply for this exam. They should hold a degree from any recognized University as well.
The written exam will carry 400 marks. 2 papers are included in the test. The first paper will be a general test. This paper includes 50 questions from General Intelligence and Reasoning, 75 questions from General Awareness and 75 questions from Numerical Ability. Maximum marks awarded for this section will be 400. Duration of this section will be 2 hours. The second paper will be on English Language. This paper includes descriptive questions from Language Comprehension and also Communication. 200 marks will be awarded for this section. Duration of this section will be 2 hours.
Step 2: Qualify in the Physical fitness round
For male candidates:
- Height: For general category-165Cms, for reserved category-162.5Cms
- Chest: For general category-Unexpanded: 77Cms and Expanded-82Cms, for reserved category- Unexpanded: 76Cms and Expanded-81Cms
- Weight: Proportionate to height and age and also per medical standard specified in Force
- Visual Standard: 6/6 right eye, 6/12 left eye, 6/9 both eyes
For female candidates:
- Height: For General category-155Cms, for reserved category-154Cms
- Weight: Proportionate to height and age and also per medical standard specified
- Visual Standard: 6/6 right eye, 6/12 left eye, 6/9 both eyes
This round will carry 100 marks.
Step 3: Personal Interview
Aspirants qualifying the first two levels will have to face a personal interview before the final selection. They have to be pleasant before the board and should be able to communicate well. They should be confident and should maintain good personality through out the process both in appearance as well as communication.
Only 50% of the total vacancies are filled on the basis of the above said procedures. Twenty five percent of the vacancies are filled up by the departmental ASIs who meet the qualifications specified by the authority. They should have completed 5 years of regular service and should qualify the physical fitness as well. They are recruited on a seniority basis. The rest 25% vacancies are filled on the basis of Limited Departmental Competitive Examination.
