The Punjab University is one of the most renowned as well as one of the oldest universities in the country. This University offers many courses at different levels. The Punjab University Lateral Entry Entrance Test (PULEET) is conducted with an objective to select the candidates who are interested to join the engineering course through the lateral entry scheme. The candidates who get qualified in the entrance examination can join directly in the second year of the engineering course.

Structure of the Punjab University Lateral Entry Entrance Test

The structure of the exam will have multiple choice questions. There will be a total of 75 questions in the examination. Each question will carry one mark. The candidates can mark the correct answers from the given set of options. There will be negative marking for wrong answers. Hence, the candidates should attempt the questions only if they are quite sure about the answer. The total duration of the test will 90 minutes.

Eligibility Criteria

The minimum eligibility criterion for attending this entrance exam is a diploma qualification. The candidates should have completed the diploma from recognized institutes with at least 60% of marks. It is mandatory for the candidates to have studied Physics and mathematics as the main subject during their 10th class. The basis of selection for the course is through the relative score obtained in the entrance examination by the candidates. Hence, it is necessary on the part of the candidates to prepare thoroughly for the exam which will help them to score high in the entrance examination.

How to Apply?

The candidates can apply for this exam by obtaining the prospectus along with the application forms for this exam from the post office, Sector -14, Chandigarh. This can be obtained only after paying in cash. The general category candidates have to pay Rs 2500 as application fee and the fee is Rs.1250 for the reserved categories such as SC/ST etc. The candidates should attach the following documents with the application forms –

  • Main Application form
  • Acknowledgement Receipt
  • Attested copy of SC/ST certificate, if applicable, obtained from the concerned authority
  • One pre-stamped envelope for Registered Post for Admit Card. The envelope should be self-addressed.

The application form should reach the concerned address - The Assistant Registrar, CET CELL, Aruna Ranjit Chandra Hall (Near Post Office), Punjab University, Sector 14, Chandigarh-160014 within the last date which is specified. The application forms which reach after the specified date will be considered only with a late fee of Rs. 1000.

How to Fill the Forms?

It must be made sure that the applications should be filled in the candidate’s hand writing only. The candidates should read fully the application forms before filling it. The candidates should enter the Name in capital letters as entered in the educational documents. The candidates should paste the photograph of size 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm on the form. Apart from this, the candidates are also required to attach two photographs of the similar size. The candidates should check in detail whether all the information that they have entered is correct or not.
