B.Tech Electrical Lateral Entry Admission in Mumbai University
Diploma holders who are aspiring to do graduation in Engineering can join the second year of Btech or BE program through Lateral entry scheme. Aspirants need to attend the State Level Entrance Exam in order to get admissions to any of the Engineering colleges. Admission procedures will be according to the norms and conditions of Mumbai University.
Eligibility for B.Tech Electrical Lateral Entry in Mumbai University
Aspirants who have scored 60% and above in the Diploma in engineering course from State Board of Technical Education or any other recognized institution can apply for the graduation program. There is concession for SEBC aspirants whose yearly family income does not exceed Rs.4.5 lakhs. These candidates need to have 55% marks. Only a pass in diploma is enough for the students from backward communities. Final year candidates are also eligible to attend the test.
Reservation for Lateral Entry in Mumbai University
There are many Engineering Colleges that comes under Mumbai University for providing admission to students through lateral entry system. Out of the total sanctioned seats for Engineering in each college, 1/6th of the seats remain vacant for allotting it to these lateral entry aspirants. Among the total lateral entry seats, 85% are allotted as Government merit seats and the remaining 15% is for management. There is 40% reservation in seats for OBC, SC/ST, SEBC and PWD candidates.
Applying for B.Tech Electrical Lateral Entry in Mumbai University
The entrance exam carried out for the admission of students into the Engineering course is a State level Entrance Test. The time duration of the exam is 2 hours. The test may contain questions on from Physics, Chemistry and Maths syllabus in 11th and 12th of state board as well as CBSE and ICSE. Applicants can procure the forms from the Mumbai University or any other colleges that admit students through lateral entry scheme.
Advantages for Lateral Entry Students in B.tech Electrical
The main advantage of the lateral entry scheme is that, students need not have to study the first year of graduation, since they have already studies the basics of electrical engineering in diploma course. As they can directly join the second year, they can save a year. Through lateral entry scheme, the scholars not only acquire job-ready at minimum expenditure, but also have the benefit of exercising the options to pursue B.E. in engineering colleges. Those who come after diploma program will find lab exams much simpler as they have previous experience in doing experiments during their diploma course.
